A remote-controlled roadside bomb ripped through the vehicle of an influential pro-government tribal elder in southern Afghanistan, wounding him and nine others, police said. Respected elder Mullah Naqeeb, who played a key role in talks with the Taliban in their rise and fall from power, was wounded in the targeted attack in the southern province of Kandahar on Friday, a policeman at the site told AFP.
