A judge looking into Canada’s response to the 1985 bombing of an Air India jetliner opined that racism may have stalled Ottawa’s help for victims’ families and led to investigation blunders. Retired Supreme Court Justice John Major, who is heading the public inquiry, said it is “hard not to share” this impression held by several victims’ families, during an exchange with a witness.
