The top U.S. envoy for public diplomacy said Sunday the abuse of prisoners in Iraq was a crime and did not reflect U.S. policies in the Middle East. In an interview with the Dubai based pan-Arab telecasting giant Al-Arabiya, Undersecretary of State Karen Hughes said the U.S. should not be judged by the actions of a few. “These are horrible crimes and they are a violation of our laws and our policies. They do not represent the United States, and the president made it clear that we expect all prisoners to be treated with respect and in a humane way,” Hughes said. Full Story
