More than 1,500 South Korean farmers and activists who have recently staged several violent rallies against opening the domestic rice market will head to Hong Kong to protest against trade talks there, organizers said on Friday. Members of the Korean Peasants League, a group representing some of the country’s 4 million farmers, will launch protests at next week’s World Trade Organization (WTO) conference against global plans to liberalize farm trade, they said.
