Florida Power and Light, the parent company of Seabrook Station, spent $14 million on security upgrades at the facility in the past year, according to John Giarrusso, the plant’s security manager. The upgrades were mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in an order issued in October 2003. Nuclear power plants around the nation were given one year to comply with the directive.
