Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has spoken of economic opportunities in the country. He also assured investors that he will be devoting resources to developing the troubled southern provinces, which had seen some 550 people dead in recent troubles.Mr Thaksin was speaking at the opening of the Business Week CEO dialogue in Bangkok on Wednesday. Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will deliver the closing keynote address on Thursday. He is expected to highlight issues of possible overheating of the Chinese economy, as well as the impact of new governments in the United States and Asia on policy. The forum is being attended by over 500 senior executives and policymakers from the region. During his four-day visit, Mr Lee is also meeting prominent Thai personalities. Ahead of their dialogue, Mr Lee met a number of leaders, including President Gusmao of East Timor.
