The U.S. Supreme Court let stand on Monday a ruling that a Qatari national and suspected al Qaeda operative must bring his lawsuit seeking his release in federal court in South Carolina, where he is being held in a U.S. military prison. Without comment, the justices rejected an appeal by Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri arguing the case can proceed in Illinois, where he previously had faced criminal charges and had been a student at Bradley University. Al-Marri, terror suspect Jose Padilla and accused Taliban fighter Yaser Hamdi are the only individuals to be held at a U.S. Navy prison in South Carolina after President Bush separately declared them “enemy combatants.”Full Story
