The president of the Union of Italy’s Islamic communities and Organizations (UICO) has left for Baghdad to try to secure the release of two young Italian women held hostage in Iraq. “Mohamed Nur Dachan left alone and is now in Jordan on his way to Baghdad,” a UICO official said, without giving further details on Dachan’s mission. Italy has been on tenterhooks over the fate of Simona Torretta and Simona Pari, both aged 29, who were seized, along with two Iraqi colleagues, on September 7 from the offices of the aid organization “A Bridge to Baghdad” they worked for in Baghdad.Full Story
