Germany’s federal prosecutor has said the United States was still holding up efforts to gain access to intelligence that could help convict one of the suspected Sept. 11 hijackers. In comments published Friday, Federal Prosecutor Kay Nehm said he had traveled to the United States in April to urge U.S. authorities to release information that would help gain a conviction in the re-trial of Moroccan Mounir El Motassadeq. Motassadeq, the only man found guilty over the Sept. 11, 2001 hijack attacks in the United States, won an appeal against his conviction in the German Supreme Court in March and now faces a re-trial which is due to start on August 10.
