Interim results from an emergency preparedness survey suggest that federal agencies need to spend more time ensuring that employees understand contingency plans for terrorist attacks and other catastrophic events, according to a memo from the Office of Personnel Management. The memo, sent by OPM Director Kay Coles James to agency heads Monday, discusses tentative findings from OPM’s second survey on agency procedures for workforce safety and security. “Initial results indicate a slight decrease in the number of agencies who have said they are communicating their safety plans and changes, conducted ‘town hall’ meetings or met with unions for communication assistance,” James wrote.
