The United States is committed to a July 1 handover of power in Iraq, despite Sunday’s suicide bombings against key Kurdish allies, and is actively weighing compromise proposals for the transition, U.S. officials and experts said on Monday. The bombings in the city of Arbil that killed 67 people, including a moderate Kurdish leader, complicate an already difficult shift from American occupation to Iraqi political control, but there is no serious discussion of pushing back the deadline, the officials and experts said.
