FIVE gunmen wielding automatic weapons hijacked a minibus carrying 13 Mormon tourists in south-western Guatemala and opened fire, killing an American man. The bus left the mountain city of Quetzaltenango and was heading for the Mexican border when it was intercepted by a group of men in a black Chevy pickup outside the town of Colomba, 200km south-west of the capital, Guatemala City. The gunmen forced the minibus off the road and climbed aboard with guns blazing, said Jose Boch, a spokesman for police in Retalhuleu, the largest city close to where the attack took place.
