Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt said on Wednesday the United States had revoked a visitor visa for remarks in which he described a top U.S. defense official as a virus who should be destroyed. Jumblatt confirmed to Reuters a newspaper report that he had received a letter from the U.S. embassy consul in Beirut canceling the visa but refused to comment on the move. Al-Mustaqbal newspaper printed the letter from the consul to Jumblatt informing him of the decision to revoke his five-year, multi-entry visa issued in 2002 under a section of the Immigration and Nationality Act. “This section of law establishes a visa ineligibility for ‘any alien who has used the alien’s position and prominence within any country to endorse or espouse terrorist activity’,” the letter, dated November 17, said.
