A local branch of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed offshoot of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing which killed an Israeli and wounded around 10 others in a shopping center near Tel Aviv. A Nablus-based branch calling itself the “Khaled Seif faction” and named after a militant killed in the northern West Bank city a year ago, said the bomber was 17-year-old Khamis Ghazi Faisal Jerwan from the Askar refugee camp. “This martyr operation is because the Israeli army is still attacking Palestinian land, arresting and killing, and not respecting the hudna,” an anonymous caller told AFP here, using the Arabic word for truce. “We will continue our attacks and our martyr operations against the Israeli army and the Israelis until they leave our land,” he added.
