Police on Tuesday released a composite sketch of the gunman who killed liberal lawmaker Sergei Yushenkov, and one of his children’s acquaintances said she was taken in for questioning in the case. Anna Gebel, speaking on TVS television from outside a prosecutor’s office, said detectives came to her apartment on Kutuzovsky Prospekt and planted drugs while conducting a search Tuesday. “I have nothing to do with Yushenkov,” she said. “I am an acquaintance of Alyosha and Yulya, his children.” Alyosha, or Alexei, Yushenkov’s 25-year-old son, who appeared with Gebel, said she was targeted only because her number was in a telephone book belonging to one of his father’s aides. “These people are trying all methods: planting drugs, detaining people who had never met my father,” he said. The television report said investigators from the Prosecutor General’s Office also have searched the offices of Yushenkov’s Liberal Russia party and apartments of other party members. Full Story
