Two Palestinians who the Israeli Army said were armed with grenades and knives and preparing to carry out an attack were shot dead early today near a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. Soldiers opened fire as the two men were seen approaching the Dugit Jewish settlement in the northern Gaza Strip, military officials said. “They had grenades and knives on their bodies,” an army spokeswoman said. Soldiers shot at a third Palestinian in the same area, but his condition was not immediately known. On Tuesday security forces shot dead an 8-year-old Palestinian boy when they opened fire on a crowd throwing stones in the West Bank city of Qalqilya, Palestinians said.
