“Malaysia is mounting a 1500-strong team to search for the missing oil tanker Orkim Harmony, and has also enlisted the help of neighbouring countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia to locate its whereabouts. The ship was suspected to have been hijacked off the east coast of the southern state of Johor in the South China Sea. The Malaysian maritime enforcement agency started combing the South China Sea last Friday (Jun 12), 10 hours after the owner of Orkim Harmony lost contact with it. Nearly 50,000 square kilometres had been searched, but the whereabouts of the tanker remains a mystery. On board was unleaded petrol worth some 21 million ringgit (US$5.6 million) and 22 crew members including 16 Malaysians, five Indonesians and a Myanmar national.”
