Nepal PM vows to integrate former rebel fighters
Nepal’s Maoist prime minister pledged on Tuesday to rehabilitate 19,000 former rebel fighters confined to UN-monitored camps since a 2006 peace deal. After waging a bloody civil war for a decade, the Maoists gained power in landmark polls in April and threw out the monarchy. “A special committee has been established to reintegrate and rehabilitate the Maoist army,” Prachanda told reporters.
