Senegal’s president said on Wednesday he opposed the idea of international sanctions being imposed against neighbour Mauritania to try to force the leaders of an August coup there to restore the country’s elected leader. “I don’t agree with sanctions,” President Abdoulaye Wade told reporters on the sidelines of a labour conference in Dakar, although he made clear that Senegal did not condone the August 6 overthrow of President Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi.
