An escalation of violence in Afghanistan is imposing a difficult obstacle for aid agencies attempting to reach civilians most in need. Officials from international aid agencies say an estimated 50-percent jump in militant attacks in Afghanistan since last year has drastically hampered relief efforts. Adnkronos reported 100 non-governmental aid agencies jointly released a statement Friday indicating that their ability to deliver aid has been sharply reduced as a direct result of the violence.
