The Kremlin says new President Dmitry Medvedev has nominated his predecessor Vladimir Putin to be prime minister. The announcement came about two hours after Medvedev took the oath of office on Wednesday. Putin’s nomination could be taken up Thursday in the parliament. Approval is virtually certain because the legislature is overwhelmingly dominated by Putin’s power-base, United Russia. Full Story
