The son of the new head of the Dutch military and another Dutch soldier serving with NATO-led forces in Afghanistan were killed on Friday when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. Taliban insurgents leading an insurgency to topple the Afghan government and expel the foreign troops claimed responsibility for the blast, part of rising violence in Afghanistan in recent weeks following the traditional winter lull.
