Supporters of former President Alberto Fujimori — on trial for murder and kidnapping — have formed a new political party to prepare for Peru’s 2011 presidential elections. Fujimori’s 32-year-old daughter Keiko, a lawmaker who received more votes than any other congressional candidate in the 2006 elections, announced the new party on Monday and said she would not rule out running for president.
