Thousands of refugees fled a camp in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo’s violent North Kivu province on Tuesday after the army said it was attacked by Tutsi-dominated insurgents, aid workers said. Army officials said they repelled the dawn raid on government positions near the Mugunga camp 10 km (6 miles) from the provincial capital, Goma, killing 27 fighters loyal to renegade Tutsi General Laurent Nkunda.
