Turkish poll candidate shot dead
An independent candidate has been shot dead in Istanbul ahead of the 22 July general election in Turkey. Tuncay Seyranlioglu’s car was hit with gunfire on a highway as it was taking him away from a television studio, the Anatolia news agency says. The 42-year-old businessman owned a construction firm and a newspaper and had been hoping to be elected as an MP for an Istanbul district. Full Story
