U.S. President George W. Bush ordered Friday to ban entry to the United States by Syrian and Lebanese officials who were accused of seeking to destabilize Lebanon’s government, the White House said. “This is a tool that the United States has to demonstrate to Syria our desire for them to stop meddling in Lebanon, to demonstrate to Syria and those who want to destabilize the democratically elected of Lebanon, that we will continue to increase pressure until they suspend their activity,” National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.
