Musharraf OKs crackdown on militant madrassas

Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has approved military crack down on madrassas promoting militancy, particularly in the country’s restive northern areas bordering Afghanistan, a news report has said. President Musharraf gave the green signal to the military and security agencies to crack down on madrassas propagating militancy, particularly in the tribal areas and North West Frontier Province, at the National Security Council (NSC) meeting held on June 4, a Daily Times report based on unnamed sources said.
