Thousands of demonstrators on Saturday gathered at Bangkok’s Royal Grounds to call for the dissolution of the junta that staged the September 19, 2006, coup and the annulment of all subsequent developments over the past nine months. Organisers expect the rally to draw up to 50,000 supporters on Saturday night who has threatened to march on Army headquarters on Rajdamnoen Avenue and the residence of Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda to demand the dismantling of last year’s coup and the restoration of the Thai Rak Thai party under the leadership of deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
