Supporters of Thaksin Shinawatra bragged they would have 50,000 anti-military protesters at their Sanam Luang protest by Saturday evening, after Mr Thaksin urged the military to organise new elections. Protest leaders said more than 50,000 people were likely to join the fresh rally at Sanam Luang Plaza, where demonstrators have gathered daily for the past two weeks to demand an end to military rule in the country.
