Thailand’s largest energy utility said on Tuesday it will invest US$6 billion to build the country’s first nuclear power plant, expected to start operations in 2020. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) said it planned to build the nuclear plant to produce 4,000 Megawatts of electricity as part of the nation’s long-term energy planning to cope with a looming power shortage.
