The leader of Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia region has flown to Russia for hospital treatment after an attack of angina, his office said on Tuesday. Abkhazia, a mountainous region on the Black Sea coast, broke away from Georgia in fighting in the 1990s. It is now in a tense armed standoff with Tbilisi. Abkhazia’s split from Georgia has not been recognised internationally. Full Story
