A suicide car bomb exploded at a police checkpoint near a busy market in the holy Shi’ite city of Najaf on Wednesday, killing 13 people and wounding 35, a spokesman at the police media office said. Another police source and a hospital doctor put the death toll at 11, with between 35 and 38 wounded.
