Two people — including the apparent suicide bomber — were killed and five injured after a bomb attack Friday on a luxury hotel in Islamabad frequented by diplomats and foreign businessmen. The attack on the Mariott Hotel prompted a heightened security alert in some of Pakistan’s larger cities. Pakistani officials and western diplomats said additional security measures for western diplomats and their families had quickly gone into effect with many living in a diplomatic compound near the hotel.
