Thousands of Spaniards have marched in protest at the bombing of Madrid airport by Basque separatists, which prompted the government to suspend efforts to broker a negotiated solution to four decades of conflict. With 19 people injured and two Ecuadorians listed as missing in the Saturday’s blast, which shattered Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero’s hopes of kickstarting stalled peace negotiations, the mood was grim as several thousand people marched on Madrid’s Sol Square to condemn the bombing.
