U.S. commanders in Iraq push troop surge
Top U.S. military commanders in Iraq have decided to recommend a surge in the number of U.S. combat forces there, the Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday, citing a defense official familiar with the plan. As President George W. Bush searches for a new policy to stem the mounting violence in Iraq, he is to meet with his new Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Saturday at Camp David to discuss Gates’ findings from his trip this week to Iraq.
