Plans by the United States to provide military support for Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas would help restore security in the region and counterbalance the threat posed by Hamas, a US diplomat said. “I think that it is pretty clear, if you have been following the news from the region, that there is one side that has been arming itself very rapidly.
