Sri Lankan police detained two people in connection with the assassination attempt on the president’s brother, officials said as Tamil Tiger rebels emerged as the only suspects. The Police Criminal Investigations Department took into custody two men who had owned the auto-rickshaw that was used in Friday’s suicide bombing against Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse’s heavily-armed convoy in Colombo. Forensic experts suggested that the three-wheel rickshaw had been fitted with eight to 10 kilos of plastic explosives and packed with ball bearings which acted as pellets. Full Story
