Police have detained the owner of a small pharmaceutical company that allegedly sold an ingredient used to make government-issued medicines that have killed at least 43 people in recent months. Angel de la Cruz, owner of Medicom, was detained Friday in a working-class neighborhood on the outskirts of this Central American capital, Panama City prosecutor Dimas Guevara said. Images broadcast on several Panamanian TV stations showed Cruz, who had been missing since Oct. 18, screaming that he was innocent as he was put into a police van. Full Story
