Sergio strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane Wednesday with wind speeds of 105 mph as it drifted far off Mexico’s Pacific coast. Forecaster Michelle Mainelli at the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the hurricane could strengthen further, but was expected to stay over water parallel to the Mexican coast for the next five days.
