Troops loyal to Somali Islamists and fighters allied to the government boosted defences on Monday after clashing the day before in the latest sign of tensions that could bring full-blown war, residents said. Eight people were killed in fighting near the semi-autonomous northern Puntland region on Sunday in the second duel between the rivals in a week.
