Japan to extend air force mission to Iraq: reports

Japan will extend its deployment of air force cargo planes in Iraq by seven months to next July to assist the US-led coalition and the United Nations in the war-torn country, reports have said. The mission of Japan’s air force, which transports goods and personnel into Iraq, was set to expire on December 14 but Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s cabinet will extend it to July 31, Jiji Press, Kyodo News and the Yomiuri Shimbun said.
