Critics accused London transport authorities of a security gaffe after it emerged that a man convicted on terrorism charges, and son of a notorious radical imam, had worked on the underground train network. Mohammed Kamel Mostafa, 25, who was jailed for three years in Yemen in 1999 for allegedly plotting a bombing campaign, worked for a subcontractor of the British capital’s Tube (underground) network maintenance company.
