The leader of Hamas, who lives in exile in Syria, is expected to travel to Egypt soon for talks on a prisoner swap with Israel that could see hundreds of Palestinians freed in exchange for an Israeli soldier. Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum, who is based in Gaza, said Khaled Meshaal, the Islamist group’s political chief, was set to travel to Cairo for what could prove “decisive discussions” but said there was no timeframe for the visit.
