Iraqi security forces will take charge of nearly half of the country’s provinces by the end of the year, Deputy Prime Minister Barham Saleh has said after talks here with Prime Minister Tony Blair. But despite the assessment, which comes amid worsening violence in the troubled Gulf state, Saleh said his country still needed the help and support of the international community, urging foreign forces not to “cut and run”.
