Parts of the Canadian island of Newfoundland were placed under a tropical storm warning on Monday as former Hurricane Isaac weakened on a path toward the sparsely populated region. Tropical storm warnings were in force for the provincial capital St. John’s, a metropolitan area of around 180,000 people, and for Avalon Peninsula, the Canadian Hurricane Center said. Full Story
