Separatist Tamil Tiger rebels shot and killed a police officer in northern Sri Lanka, the government said on Friday. Rebels attacked a group of police officers near northern town of Vavuniya, killing one officer on Thursday night, said an officer at the Media Center for National Security, speaking on condition of anonymity due to policy.
