Australia denies army chief visited Philippines in hunt for Bali bombers
Australia’s defence ministry has denied its army chief is on a secret visit to the southern Philippines this week to be briefed on a hunt for two suspects in the 2002 Bali bombings that left 200 people dead. Contradicting Filipino military officials, Canberra’s Defence Department said Lieutenant General Peter Leahy’s trip to the Philippines was instead part of scheduled exchange of visits. Full Story
