Hundreds of workers started bulldozing part of a village Wednesday to clear the way for the expansion of a military base set to become the new U.S. headquarters in Korea. Several dozen residents and activists scuffled with hundreds of riot police in helmets and shields as workers demolished vacant houses in the village of Daechuri with heavy equipment.
