Tony Blair, Britain’s prime minister, has been told to stay away from Lebanon by the country’s most senior Shia cleric ahead of a visit on Monday to Beirut, the first by any western leader since the war with Israel. Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah declared the prime minister persona non grata for his unswerving support of President George W. Bush and the Israeli assault against Hizbollah guerillas.
