Venezuela’s Chavez calls on South to fight US ‘hegemony’
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called during a visit to Mali for the South to unite against “American hegemony” and once more accused US President George W. Bush of coveting Iraq’s oil. “We must unite, we countries of the South, against the hegemony of the United States, or we will all die,” Chavez said in the Malian capital Bamako, the first of two African stops of a world tour that has also taken him to Vietnam, Iran, Cuba, Belarus and Russia.
